Air Purifiers

If you are on this page looking at air purifiers, the chances are that you already have an allergy or a health concern.  Surprisingly, indoor air can be many more times more polluted than outside air – up to five times – and there’s a large variety of technologies to achieve the same goal – cleaner air.  Here are some of the ways it can be done – often a combination of these are used.

Filtration – this is often the first line of defence where allergens and particulate matter is removed by various grades and types of filter.  HEPA filters have an ultra-fine mesh which can remove particles down to 0.3 microns in size while carbon filters remove household and environmental odours.

Heat Sterilisation – air is heated to a very high temperature, killing harmful substances and organisms with no residue.

Ionization – Harmful substances are neutralised by the creation of Hydroxyl molecules – pollutants, allergens and biological agents are chemically attracted to these Hydroxyl molecules and combine with them before decomposing into harmless substances.
